Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is facing possible discipline by the NFL this season

DENVER, Co- According to Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post, Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is facing possible discipline by the NFL this season. Talib may have violated the league’s personal conduct policy by shooting himself in the leg at a club in Dallas in June of 2016.

The dean of discipline, Commissioner Roger Goodell may have some bad news for the defending Superbowl champion Broncos. The results of an investigation have revealed that Talib shot himself while visiting a Dallas gentleman’s club. This appears to be a violation of the NFL’s gun policy, which was made infamous by former New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress.

On June 5th 2016, the all pro defensive back said in an interview that he heard a gunshot while in the club… then felt he was shot in the leg.

According to Jhabvala…

“Carrying handguns, openly or concealed, is legal in Texas with a proper license. But it is a third-degree felony (2-10 years in state prison) to carry one without a license at a place that sells liquor, such as the V Live strip club. It is a Class A misdemeanor (up to one year in county jail) to have a handgun while intoxicated, no matter licensing. And it is a Class B misdemeanor (up to six months in county jail) to discharge a weapon in a public place.”

Evidence suggests that commissioner Roger Goodell may decide to suspend Talib this season even if he is not charged with any crimes. The NFL gun policy allows for punitive action based upon the discretion of the league.

This is unwelcome news for the Broncos who have avoided a superbowl hangover by going 4-0 to start 2016. Aqib Talib is an important part of the defense and their chances of winning are severely affected by any possible absence.
